Critics Consensus

The Infiltrator's compelling fact-based story and tremendously talented cast are often just enough to balance out its derivative narrative and occasionally clunky execution.

The Infiltrator | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online The Infiltrator is what I like to call a decent Saturday laundry film, something that you can put on, walk away from it and let it run on it's own for about 10 minutes, return to it and not be lost at all. Rated: C+ Mar 21, 2017 Full Review The Infiltrator | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Nigel Andrews Financial Times [Bryan Cranston is] the most watchable, dangerous, frangible thing in The Infiltrator, a B-standard crime thriller based on the exploits of undercover "narc" Robert Mazur. Rated: 3/5 Dec 28, 2016 Full Review The Infiltrator | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Tara Brady Irish Times Despite the viewer knowing (largely) where the film is headed, The Lincoln Lawyer director Brad Furman squeezes plenty of white-knuckle tension from the details. Rated: 3/5 Dec 28, 2016 Full Review The Infiltrator | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Cranston leads a cast of strong supporting actors in an entertaining and effective, if familiar, undercover cop thriller. Rated: 3/4 Apr 11, 2022 Full Review The Infiltrator | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Victoria Luxford City AM Like Escobars gear it gives you a short-lived high but youd be better off steering clear. Just say no, kids. Rated: 2/5 Feb 18, 2022 Full Review The Infiltrator | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Moviegoers need another film about the drug trade as much as they need a hole in the head - or, more specifically, a cocaine-caused hole in the nose - but The Infiltrator does just enough right to make it a welcome addition to the canon. Samu L Cranston's ability to bring depth and nuance to his characters is amazing. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review Pongo K A really good movie! A must see. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/24 Full Review Danny R This movie is not only entertaining, but it allows you to see the drug world, from the undercover agent's side. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/12/23 Full Review stoner j One of Furman's better movies, along with the Lincoln Lawyer, the Take and city of lies, all pretty damn good (everything minus runner runner). Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Bada B Great movie to watch with your family and friends.Amazing! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/20/22 Full Review isla s This is a somewhat stylish film, with a heavy use of yellow tints in many scenes and it certainly has the look and feel of a relatively urban, gritty watch. I didn't feel there was a great deal to the plot though and that was its downfall, in my mind. There is, of course, inevitably, some strong bloody violence and throughout I felt unsure of the true intentions of the main character, Robert Mazur. I struggled a bit with the sort of inherint tackiness present but I concede that its interesting in terms of observing how such a lucrative underground industry worked. Suffice to say, if your squeamish about blood or violence then this is best avoided but as a drama based on a true story its not bad - I just felt it was missing a bit of extra substance that would have made it more engrossing. I did feel that Bryan Cranston gave a reasonably decent performance in the main role of Robert Mazur though, particularly towards the end. If your a fan of his then its worth seeing, otherwise I wouldn't go out of your way to see it though. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
