RDP Gannett Westchester April 8, 1990 A Section Leslie N. Smith: retired NYNEX foreman Leslie N. Smith, a retired NY- July. He had previously lived NEX foreman, died of cancer yes- New Fairfield, for about terday at his Carmel home. He was years.

63. He was born Nov. 5, 1926, to Leslie F. and Hetty Box Smith in Yonkers, where he attended public schools. Mr.

Smith was a foreman with NYNEX in Westchester for about 35 years, retiring i in 1984. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. Mr.

Smith married Helen Stankler in Yonkers in 1951. She died in 1977. He married Alice Donovan in Las Vegas on Jan. 2, 1983. Mr.

Smith moved to Carmel in Judith Diane VanScoy: Judith Diane VanScoy of Savannah. a senior systems engineer for IBM died Thursday at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah. She was 46. Mrs. VanScoy died of injuries sustained in an automobile accident Thursday in Beaufort County, S.C.

Mrs. VanScoy began her career with IBM 25 years ago at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown. She then worked for the coporation's offices in White Plains and Milford. Conn.

She had been associated with the marketing department of IBM's office in Savannah for the past years. Mrs. VanScoy was born Oct. 18, 1943, to Martin and Georgette Schwamb Farrell in Flushing, Queens, where she grew up. She graduated from the Dominican Academy in Manhattan.

In 1965, she graduated from Jackson College of Tufts University with a bachelor's degree in physics. In 1971, she married Floyd VanScoy in Hancock, N.Y. Myrtle S. Bitter: Carmel Myrtle S. Bittner, a homemaker and Carmel resident, died Friday at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel.

She was 91. The cause of death was not disclosed. Mrs. Bittner was born Jan. 30, 1899, to Charles and Mary Proctor Stevens in Danbury, where she was raised and educated.

Her husband, George Bittner, died around 1960. At least 40 years ago, she moved Daniel J. LaBella: retired Daniel J. LaBella, a lifelong Port Chester resident, died yesterday at United Hospital Medical Center in Port Chester of heart failure following surgery. He was 78.

For 40 years, he owned and operated the Putnam Service Station in Greenwich, which closed when he retired nine years ago. He was born Dec. 27, 1911, to Paulo and Katherine Santarsiero LaBella in Port Chester, where he graduated from Port Chester Senior High School. On Oct. 20, 1933, he married Rita V.

Mecca at Holy Rosary Church in Laura I. Pitassi: homemaker Laura I. Pitassi, a homemaker, died of heart failure yesterday at Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital. She was 61. Mrs.

Pitassi was born Dec. 8, 1928, in Milford, to Julio and Anna Chiappa Tiburzi. She moved to Valhalla as a child and attended White Plains public schools, graduating from White Plains High School. She married Frank J. Pitassi Sr.

on Dec. 30, 1947, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in White Plains. After her marriage, she moved to White Plains, where she lived until moving to Greenwich in 1972. She was a member of the Westchester Country Club in Harrison. Gloria E.

Wenderoth: Gloria E. Wenderoth, a 35-year White Plains resident and an elementary school teacher, died of heart failure Friday at White Plains Hospital Center. She was 66. Ms. Wenderoth was born Jan.

27, 1924, to Frank and Mary Guliano Elia of the Bronx. She attended Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx, and she received a bachelor's degree from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry and a master's degree from the College of New Rochelle. "She was a friend to all; there were such a variety of people whose lives she touched." said her daughter, Monica Morton of White Plains. "She loved the children, her children, and grandchildren. She was also a second mother to many." Ms.

Wenderoth was a teacher for 16 years at Mount Carmel elementary school in Elmsford. She was a reading teacher for grades He i is survived by his wife; his parents, of Irvington; two daughters, Barbara Szaley of New Fairfield, and Laura Pellegrino of Port Chester; three sons, Leslie of Bedford Hills, Kenneth of Wal1kill, N.Y., and Robert of Danbury, a sister, Florence S. Forster of Irvington; two brothers, George of Scottsdale, and Donald of Yonkers; and five grandchildren. Family and friends are making contributions in his memory to the Hospice Program, P.O. She belonged to the American Bonanza Society, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the 99s, a national association of women pilots. She was a member of the Bear Creek Golf Club and the Spanish Wells Golf Club, both on Hilton Head Island.

In addition to her mother, Georgette Langsam of Fairbanks Ranch, and her husband, Mrs. VanScoy is survived by her son, Edward VanScoy of Hilton Head Island. Family and friends are making contributions to the Hilton Head Animal Shelter, 8 Spanish Wells Road, Hilton Head Island, S.C. 29926. He was 69. A Lake Carmel resident for the past five years, he previously lived in Queens. He was born Sept. 7, 1920, in New York City to Edward and Louise Kappel Dewender. On March 4, 1966, he married Irene Adair in the Bronx.

He was a film technician for Movielab Inc. in New York City for Sister Theophane Carr: Sister Theophane Carr, a retired teacher and a member of the Franciscan Missionaries of the Sisters of Sacred Heart order, died yesterday at the Mount St. Francis Convent in Peekskill. She was 85. The cause of death is not available.

She was born Margaret Carr on June 22, 1904, in County Tipperary, Ireland, to John and Catherine O' Dwyer Carr. She also attended the College of Mount St. Vincent in the Riverdale section of Albert William Schweizer: Albert William "Bill" Schweizer, a security guard for nearly 40 years, died of cancer Friday at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie. He was 74. Mr. Schweizer had been with the security department at General Motors in North Tarrytown for 30 years, retiring 12 years ago.

He since worked as a security guard at Burke Rehabilitation Center in White Plains. Mr. Schweizer was born Oct. 16, 1915, in Tarrytown to Gustav and Ella Duryea Schweizer.
