Okay, so this week I kicked off my holiday blog series, 25 Days of Christmas. I will be sharing with you guys, for 25 days straight (hopefully) cookies, appetizers, dishes, and other baked goods that are perfect for the holiday season. I have been wanting to do this series on my blog for about 2-3 years now. So, I decided to finally pull the plug and challenge myself to get it done. So, here we are well into our first week of this blog series and I am super excited to share with you this second cookie recipe of Ooey Gooey Butter Cookies. You are going to love it.

Okay, so during my 25 Days of Christmas blog series, I will share with you guys stories and family dysfunctions that I am sure we all can relate to. So, today I will be talking about Twittle Dee, Twittle Dumb, and Twittle Dumber, also known as Frank, Jonathan, and Michael (my brothers.

My brothers, where do I start. Well, there are three of them and they all drive me crazy. I am the oldest out of the four. Because of the nature of how our parents worked, around the time I was 10, I was kind of like their stand-in mom. I would get them bathed, fed, and looked at them when we would come home from school. As much as my brothers use to get on my last nerve, they were my children. They were my prized possessions. It’s crazy thinking back because there were times in my childhood where I actually preferred to have nothing to do with them. They were loud, mischievous, and rough. Hell, they were boys. I, being the only girl, kept her distance from everyone in the house, preferred to watch tv or play with my dolls in my room, or go over a friend or a cousins house just to have someone to play with. It was rough being the only girl and the oldest at that. But there was one Christmas that I am sure they don’t remember that I do when I gave in and admitted to myself that they were like my sons.

I don’t remember the year, but I remember I was 12 or 13 ( I think) and it was the last Christmas I had where I was excited. You know, can’t go to sleep the night before and was really anxious about seeing what Santa brought me for Christmas. My brothers were the same way. If not more excited because they were younger. I remember the oldest boy, Frank, came in my room waking me up for Christmas. Our parents hadn’t awakened yet, so they decided to get me first. I crept downstairs to see what was under the tree and there was a boatload of toys and presents just waiting for us to open, but no parents. The moment when I fell in love with my brothers, admittingly, was when those six eyes looked up at me with excitement and innocence the Christmas morning. I found some shirts and pants for them to put on as pajamas so they would be warm, made sure they brushed their teeth and washed their faces. By this time, the parents were up and we all went downstairs to open our gifts. From that point on, my protection level for my brothers went up 1000% because I realized at that moment they really looked up to me and needed me. And maybe, just maybe they didn’t mean to get on my nerves as much as they did.

If I knew then, what I know now about these Ooey Gooey Butter Cookies, I would’ve made these for my baby brothers every year. First of all, they only take 5 ingredients to make; Second of all, they are super easy to make; and Third of all, they are delicious and hard to resist. These Ooey Gooey Butter Cookies are perfect for Christmas and they are great to make with your kids! In fact, you can give them the ingredients and instructions and they could make it themselves. They are they easy to make. If you want to go for a more “lemony” flavor, you could add ½ tbsp of lemon zest and 1 tbsp of lemon juice. If you love my Ooey Gooey Lemon Coconut Bars, you could also roll the cookies in sweet coconut flakes! Have fun with these cookies and enjoy your holiday!
