Congrats to our friends at Dôen, just named WWD's Best Private Company in 2024. 🚀 Curious how they built their $100M fashion empire (without following the rules)? Here's how: ↳ Started small, stayed disciplined: Capped SKU count & resisted over-expansion↳ Flipped the "always on sale" model: Only 3 strategic sales per year (Mom's Day, Black Friday, Warehouse) - trained customers to buy full price 🤯↳ Smart inventory play: Test small, let things sell out. FOMO > excess stock↳ The "Favorite Characters" strategy: Instead of constant newness, they perfect bestsellers and drop smart variations (Their viral Sebastiane skirt? Now in plaid, lace, AND pants)↳ Community > Marketing: Only 5% of revenue goes to marketing. Instead? Heavy focus on organic celebrity/influencer gifting that WORKS ↳ Global expansion with guardrails: Keeping wholesale at 20% max (even with massive demand) ↳ Self-funded growth: No rushing - funding 3 stores/year at their own paceThe secret sauce? Staying true to their vision while saying NO to industry pressure. Who else is inspired by founders who grow on their own terms? 🙌#entrepreneurship #womeninbusiness #startup #fashion #growth [Feel free to like & share with a founder who needs to hear this today]P.S. Sometimes slower = sustainable.https://lnkd.in/eQQZxYUQ

In this fast-paced era, we hope to see results quickly. ⏳However, true #success often comes from persistent effort and the gradual accumulation of small achievements. 🌱Recently, I saw a #crocheter share her experience of making a granny square every day. After a year of dedication, she finally pieced together a beautiful blanket. 🧶Spending just a little time each day to crochet a small square may seem insignificant at first, but it is this daily commitment that ultimately leads to stunning results. ✨ Behind each square lies her patience, perseverance, and love for #craftsmanship. 🎉This made me deeply realize that any great achievement is built upon the realization of countless small goals. 🌟 Perhaps our progress in a certain area isn’t immediately noticeable, but as long as we keep going, we will eventually see our growth and change. 🌈Instagram: esmeehaaktaan 📸#fashion #apparel #textiles #manufacturing #retail #knitwear #ecommerce #supplychain #sustainability #branding #entrepreneurship #innovation #design #fashionweek #garment #population #knit #knitting

From Dreams to Reality: Our Journey to Launching a Clothing Brand Since childhood, I've always dreamed of creating my own clothing brand. As a kid, I often crafted clothing items, starting with paper and later progressing to IKEA bags. This passion never faded. Two years ago, I began seriously pursuing this dream. I watched countless YouTube videos, read about others' experiences, and constantly kept up with new collections from luxury brands.I started by developing a name and logo, imagining what our clothing could offer people. Despite my enthusiasm, finding the right moment to dive in fully eluded me—until I tore my ACL. During my recovery, I had many conversations with Dainis TkaOne day, I shared my entire idea with him, and he told me it was the perfect time to make it happen. It dawned on me that everything happens for a reason, and it would be a mistake not to seize this opportunity. I invited Dainis to join me in building this brand together.Today, our team has grown to four dedicated individuals, and we are on the verge of launching our first clothing collection. We're making final touches, like enhancing our Shopify website and collaborating with a designer and marketing specialist on social media content.Stay tuned for our launch of PALF Clothing. We can't wait to share our passion and vision with you. #Entrepreneurship #Fashion #StartupJourney #DreamBig

You know how on Sundays I like to pen loveletters ✍ to dear gentle readers on my Substack and during working days I equally like forgetting to post (it's my favourite pastime 😛 ) what I've written on LinkedIn? Well today is the day when I remembered so with a slight delay of about 3 weeks (hey don't judge me, you know what they say, better late than never 🙄 ) here's a little something from the "How to start a fashion label, if you're not a nepo baby" series.🐒 Focus is on Production and Business Model and it takes you through 💫Deciding between different production models, starring the pops of production models (bulk), the rebel teenager (made to measure) and the mom who somehow always finds herself in between (the pre-order) , executively produced by yours truly 💫The dreadful business model (all the annoying B2whatevers or D2whatevers explained again by yours truly) which has the potential to either make you an obnoxious millionaire or prematurly old, launching you from cradle to grave in a matter of seconds if you dare to pick the wrong one.🚀Hey, it's not all doom and gloom I promise. ⚠ Now go and read it if you dare, because this thing is not for the faint of heart! ⚠ Stay tuned for more tips (I'll grace your feeds when I remember to share), and spread this with a fellow fashion designer who’s ready to age prematurely! 👴 https://lnkd.in/dFHhiSU6#FashionDesign #StartupTips #IndependentDesigners #Entrepreneurship #ProductionModels #BusinessModels #Ecommerce #Dropshipping #Wholesale

From Garage Startup to $5.5 Billion Powerhouse: The Story of VuoriIt’s incredible to see how Vuori, founded just 10 years ago in a garage, has become a leader in the athleisure market and is now valued at $5.5 billion. This is a testament to the power of vision, adaptability, and staying true to core values.Founder Joe Kudla’s journey stands out for many reasons:- Pivoting from a graphic T-shirt line to a brand that redefined casual athleticwear.- Building a company focused on profitability first—a rarity in the DTC world.Innovating with products like the Kore Short and Meta Pant, which seamlessly blend fashion and function for today’s active lifestyle.- Using a combination of direct-to-consumer strategies, retail partnerships, and global expansion to drive sustainable growth. What resonates most is Vuori’s commitment to versatility—clothes that fit every part of a blended, active lifestyle. This approach has struck a chord with consumers and investors, proving that discipline and authenticity can create something extraordinary. As Kudla says, "It’s still early days." With over 80 stores already and ambitious plans for global expansion, Vuori’s story is far from over.📖 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eTcF9365
