The same fate awaited Lange boots, but Rossignol's CEO, Laurent Boix-Vives, purchased the company personally through a Swiss holding company, Ski Expansion.

Lange's boots are designed with quality features and a focus on a performance fit, making the RX 120 a classic all-mountain ski boot.

The waist width of your skis will determine what size brakes you need, while your skiing ability, weight, height and boot sole length will determine the bindings' release force setting (DIN). Once you've established an accurate DIN range and brake width, you can look at additional binding features.

Manufacturers say that boots should last about 200 skier days, though ski boot liners tend to pack out well before then, even before the shell begins to lose its integrity. So while you may have only put in around 90 ski days on your boots, it's probably time to upgrade at least the liner, if not the whole boot.

Bindings more than twenty years old are most probably obsolete by design, and should be retired, regardless of condition. Boots more than eighteen years old may not meet current standards for sole shape and slipperiness and are probably worn out by this time anyway.

Tech bindings are far lighter than traditional alpine bindings and allow for easy ski touring capability. They do not provide the elastic travel and consistent releasability of alpine bindings.

The low volume (LV) Shadow should not ski as strongly as it does for the level of comfort and convenience if offers. The ease on and off of this boot is extremely good and the seamless liner feel is top of class.
